Holiday Songs and Stories for Pre-schoolers

December 17, 2007: Holiday Songs and Stories for Pre-schoolers
On Monday, December 17th at 10:30 a.m. preschoolers and their caregivers were treated to a special preschool story time program of music and stories presented by talented music teacher and Kindermusik® instructor, Tina Gemborys. Holiday refreshments were served after the program. The program for children from birth through 5 years of age was funded by the Athol-Royalston Community Partnership for Children and the Friends of the Library.

Wolf Talk Program

October 27, 2007: Wolf Talk
The “tail” end of the Town Halloween Party at the Town Hall was the time to see a real live wolf in Royalston. Mike and Amy LeBlanc discussed wolf behavior in captivity and in the wild, their eating habits, pack structure, and place in the ecosystem. They brought along furs, skulls, and more to examine. The LeBlancs are wolf rehabilitators, licensed state and federally, and have been caring for and raising wolves from birth to adulthood since 1978. Guitar Hero Program

August 4, 2007: Guitar Hero
PlayStation and XBox Fans, Did you know the guy who developed the popular game, Guitar Hero, spends time in Royalston? Daniel Sussman is a Producer at Harmonix Music Systems, Inc., in Cambridge, MA. Some of his recent credits include Guitar Hero (Producer) and Guitar Hero 2 (Project Leader). Guitar Hero has won awards around the world including best game of 2005. Daniel discussed how he got into developing games and how to get into the gaming market. He also talked about developing Guitar Hero, as well as demonstrated it, and told about the new game he is currently developing.

Much Ado About Nothing

July 3, 2007: Much Ado About Nothing
Much Ado About Nothing was presented by the Royalston Shakespeare Company. The 2007 production was indeed “a merry skirmish of wits.” Set in the 1960s, with a groovy soundtrack and costume rack, the packed house went away amazed and amused by the Bard’s words and the impressive performances of the 30+ child and teen actors and technicians.

Kindermusik 2007

Summer 2007: Kindermusik Program
Tina Gemborys, a certified Kindermusik® instructor, elementary school music teacher, and mom, again lead the program. This fun program gets kids (and adults) moving and has been a perennial favorite.

Pre-school Story Time 2007

Pre-school Story Time 2007
Preschoolers and their caregivers are welcome to the library each Monday from 10 - 11:30 am. Each week, after listening to library staff read from a picture book, kids create a related craft. Books can be checked out and healthy snacks are served.
