March 13, 2008: Cross Culture Club visits Colombia with Eduardo Ramirez
For the past decade, the Friends of the Library have been bringing a taste of the wider world to kids in Royalston. Cross Culture Club participants learn about a culture by locating it on a map and trying activities like pronouncing a smattering of a new language, playing a game, looking at pictures, creating a craft and/or eating typical foods.

February 20-22, 2008: February Vacation Art Class
Kids, Tweens and teens, ages 8 and up, were invited to particpate in library sponsored art classes at Town Hall taught by local artist ME Kane. Participants learned to work with acrylic paints and other media to create still-lifes and nature-based projects.

January 12, 2008: Twelfth Night Contra Dance
Once again, the Friends of the Library sponsored a community contra dance. It was at the Town Hall from 7 - 8:30 pm. Dances were taught by Norah Dooley and accompanied by the stage full of local musicians who make up the No Name Band. A Traditional Twelfth Night cake, which has a hard bean and a pea baked inside, was served. Revelers who were served cake containing the royal legumes were crowned royalty for the dance.
